IAMI is the International Association of Maritime Institutes. The main role of IAMI is to act as the conduit with the various UK maritime regulators, employers and education bodies; including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the deep sea employer group via the Chamber of Shipping (at the Merchant Navy Training Board), the Maritime Skills Alliance, and at European Union based educational forums. IAMI operate four separate sub-groups, including Deck/Navigational training, Engineering training, Small Craft Training and now from January 2019 Marine Hospitality Training.
PYA is the Professional Yachting Association is a non-profit organisation representing the interests of professional yacht crew, verifying sea service and providing advice on certification, training, welfare and regulations.
The GUEST Program (Guidelines for Excellence in Superyacht Training) is the only internationally accredited certification platform available to yacht crew working in the interior and hospitality departments onboard Super Yachts. Accredited and governed by the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) the GUEST Program (formally governed by PYA) is available through worldwide accredited Training Providers and offers progression learning aimed at up-skilling all levels of crew within the interior departments, including Chief Stews, Senior Stews and entry level Junior Stews. The GUEST Purser Program is currently under development and will be launched in 2020.
