Purser Trainer Courses

Courses are available for purchase individually and as a full curriculum package. 

(Only upon successful completion of the FULL course, will the accredited certificate be issued)

Students must have a good understanding of the English language, both written and verbal and be at least 25 years of age. Minimum of two years in a senior position on-board a yacht, experience within luxury hospitality/villa management. A cv will be required as proof of experience and eligibility.

Module #1
Purser Crew Course

This module will provide you with an understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Purser and provide tools to implement, organise, and manage the Purser administrations and secretarial duties. Crew related issues will be addressed to include contracts, insurance and visas. The role of the Purser in Muster Duties, emergencies and threats.

  • Familiarisation of the STCW convention with relevant chapters and Certificate of Competency

Port Clearance Course

This module will provide you with an understanding of how to implement, organise and manage Port Clearance Procedures.

Module #3
Purser Maritime Course

This module is designed to give you an understanding of the Maritime Structure, Conventions and codes. Understanding of the role & control of Flag States, compliance and Port State Control. Familiarisation of vessel insurance and liabilities.

  • The structure of the maritime organisation – UN, IMO, ILO

  • Familiarisation of all relevant IMO and ILO conventions – SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL and MLC 2006

  • The role and duties of flag state. UNCLOS

  • Classification society and Recognised Organisations

Purser Financial Management

This module will provide you with an understanding of the importance of accurate financial management. Basic accounting principles, purchase orders, bookkeeping, budgeting, account plans, reporting and VAT.

This module will provide an understanding of the charter process, agreements and accounts involved, along with the social aspects, communication & cultural differences.

Purser Destination Management Course

Within this module, you will gain an understanding of the importance of thorough research and reconnaissance; ways to present information to guests; the logistics involved with guest arrival and on-going guest well-being. You will also understand how to forecast & manage crew requirements, health, safety & wellbeing at destinations, planned maintenance, audits, surveys, activities, excursions and events for guests. You will gain an understanding of the environmental impact of yachting, cultural & compliance considerations, the importance of communication for the vessel and crew and, we will also look at the import & export consideration of art onboard.
